By  |

Rado is a brand of Swiss high-end watches. The company’s headquarters is in Lengnau, Switzerland. Rado watches are known for their scratch-proof cases, a field which they are believed to have pioneered. Today, Rado is estimated to produce roughly half a million watches a year and the company employs 470 people in total. Rado watches are sold in over 150 countries, including Japan, China, Switzerland, Germany, the U.S. and Italy.

The Rado company was formed in 1950 and initially produced only watch components. In 1957, the company expanded to produce the entire watch instead of just the internal pieces. In 1962, the Rado Diastar was released, the world’s first scratch-proof watch. The Diastar has been in production ever since. In 1968, Rado became part of the ASUAG group, which later merged in 1983 with the SSIH to the SMH group, which was then renamed in 1998 as the Swatch group.

Unlike other Swiss watch makers, Rado puts an emphasis on using high tech materials in their distinctive designs. Rado was the pioneer in using unique materials such as hard metal, ceramics, lanthanum and sapphire crystal in their designs. In 2004, Rado created the high-tech diamond, which they used to create the hardest watch on Earth. This record is memorialised in the Guinness Book of World Records.

New Rado designs also differ from traditional Swiss styles in that they have unique aesthetics. People that see Rado watches for the first time tend to have mixed reactions ranging from sheer appreciation to shock. For those that appreciate unique designs, Rado watches can’t be beat. In fact, since Rado was formed, they have received over 20 international design awards ranging from the RED DOT Award to the iF Design Award. The Rado brand is considered high-class throughout the world, and is particularly popular in the Middle East where it is a status symbol.

The Rado Cerix.

The Rado Men’s R30931103 Cerix Two Tone Stainless Steel Watch lives up to the brand’s high expectations with a 2-tone design that’s innovative and attractive. The band features a gold finish that forms a ladder-like pattern with silver finish filling in the negative spaces. The case is silver while the numbers on the face and the hands of the watch are gold. The display includes minute markers and hour markers around the outer rim. The watch hands are also luminescent for ease of viewing. The bezel is fixed in place and made of stainless steel. The imported watch is made with quality Swiss quartz movement and includes a sapphire crystal cover over a silver dial. The watch is water resistant to 99 feet, so swimming and showering are discouraged.

The Rado Cerix watch is made of stainless steel, making it durable and lightweight. The slim profile and smooth band makes it comfortable to wear all day, resting effortlessly on the wrist and adding a minimal amount of weight. The watches are specially contoured to fit comfortably against the wrist, contouring perfectly to the unique shape of the human form.
