Men’s Beachwear Essentials for Every Dapper Gent

By  |

When the weather warms up, there’s no better way to cool off than with a trip to the beach. For most men, that means throwing a pack of beer in the cooler and a pair of swim trunks under your shorts. However, if you’re the type that prefers to be better prepared, you may want to check out this list of men’s beachwear essentials.

Men’s Beachwear essentials: Our list

1.) A cool hat. Whether you feel like rocking a cowboy hat, a baseball cap or a straw hat, you’ll need something to help you keep the sun out of your eyes while making you look cool. As an added bonus, your hat of course will also make you stand out more to the hotties in bikini’s eye-balling your rock hard abs and bulging biceps. Pick out something unique so the lady that walks by giving you the eye can pick you out at the bar later when you’re wearing a shirt.

2.) Forget to shave. There’s nothing that says, “I don’t care how I look because I’m just that laid back and fun” like a good spread of stubble. Heck, if you’re really feeling it, go ahead and grow a little chin patch if you want to. Just make sure any facial hair you have that’s more than stubble is neatly tended and cared for.  Since growing facial hair takes some advanced preparation, go ahead and just skip shaving the morning you plan to head to the beach and sport the sexy rough look instead.

3.) Don’t forget your sunglasses. Bonus points if they’re a designer label. Sunglasses come in all types of shapes and colours, so take a minute to find a pair that fit you well. Oakleys? Ray Bans? There’s so many choices out there. Picking out the right pair for your beach adventures could take you all day.

If you’ve never worn the glasses before, put them on and see what your friends’ gut reactions are. If it’s not good, you can bet the cutie on the beach won’t like your look either. In general, reserve the darkest of shades for after you get a tan.

4.) Pick out a bright coloured t-shirt. Neons are all the rage this season and your brightly coloured t-shirt will make you look fashionable and fun on the beach. Try something in lime green or a daring pink to help grab attention and lament to everyone that you’re here to enjoy your summer. If you’re not into the bright colours, try something patriotic or edgy like an Ed Hardy design.

5.) Two words: Boat shoes. Yes, seriously. You finally have an excuse to break out those canvas bad-boys, so take full advantage. The beach is more commonly associated with flip flops and funky man toes, but canvas shoes will be a welcome addition to your ensemble, especially if you have to walk any distance to get to the beach. Make sure you take your shoes off when you hit the sand so you don’t wind up walking with half the beach between your toes.
