  • Have a budget in mind before you go out there and purchase a suit. Obviously, if you are the groom, which I am going to assume you are, you are going to have a decent budget at your disposal for your wedding suit. This is your big day, after all. If you are just attending the wedding as a guest, you may not have or need that much money to spend. You can find suits on sale here as well as use the site to compare a variety of suit styles available – this will help you build an idea of what budget you need for a decent wedding suit. We suggest that you veer away from the idea of renting. It may be a touch cheaper, but there is a chance that you end up with something that doesn’t fit well. Also, somebody else will have enjoyed their day in that suit, and that detracts from the whole appeal of it.
  • If you can afford it, go for a suit that is professionally tailored. Be forewarned, it will be a tad more expensive, but it will fit a whole lot better, and you will look fantastic as a result. It also makes the whole purchasing process that much easier, if you can find a good tailor, that is.
  • When you are purchasing a wedding suit for men, try to opt for heavier fabrics. Yes, in the heat you may get a little bit uncomfortable, but you will find that they look a whole lot better. They will certainly hold their shape well. Wool is always good. Some of the more chiselled amongst us opt for a softer fabric to show off those guns but most men will probably end up with the heavier fabric. It just works. Linen is good if you need something a bit lighter for your wedding. Try and stay away from polyester even though it is cheap.
  • If you need to buy a cheap suit, check it for quality. The buttons are incredibly important here. The last thing you want them to do is fall off during the wedding ceremony (I’ve actually seen this happen!). You also want to check the collar to ensure it is relatively stiff – lay the suit down flat and make sure it does not pucker. Some of the cheaper suits on the market tend to be oddly sized, so you want to check over and over again that it fits your body well.
  • Remember, your suit is not just about the jacket. It also involves the pants, so you need to make sure that they fit well too. When you try on your pants, make sure you try them on with the shoes that you are planning to wear for on your big day. This will help you figure out if they will bunch up over those shoes – if they do, you need to get them altered for a flawless finish.
